(R3) Sucrose solution 

Procedure

-     Dissolve 500 g sucrose in 320 ml distilled water;

-     Heat the solution until it becomes transparent (do not boil);

-     Carefully add 6.5 g phenol crystals (under a fume hood);

-     Mix well.  Store in a sealed container.

The solution is stable.
